It’s like a Tercel but smaller. How reliable are these things? Fuel economy is rated 31-39, is that accurate? Anybody ever owned one of these snoozeboxes?

I have no personal experience with these, but I received a lot of support on here about buying a Tercel of this era.

Corolla levels of reliability and performance. Provided they were cared for.

My friends mom had one back in the day when the sport compact scene was really ramping up. It was red, with a manual. My friend hated it, but I enjoyed ripping around in it, not that it was fast or particularly good handling or anything.
A couple decades later, I had a kid working for us who asked why Toyota would sell a car and name it “Passed.” We had a good laugh at his expense, but sure enough the italicized font makes the O in Paseo look like a D.
That same kid asked why there were so many trucks from India here. Curious as to what the hell he was talking about I enquired further and he replied something like “The ones that say Denru” on the side. After more prodding I realized he was talking about GMC Denali’s, and was again misreading the font.

Tercel with flair. It will keep going long after you wish it would stop. I see the odd one around fs, I think a 4 door Tercel would be more useful but in the commuter 90s gang it’s pretty cool.

Toyota skimped on the rustproofing a bit but they’re not bad cars. Very bland though. There’s never any for sale because even their owners forget they exist.
